I left Blogger primarily because PixelPost is designed from the ground up for the express purpose of displaying images. The following is from the PixelPost main page:
It’s developed and maintained by photobloggers who like to keep the meaning behind photoblogging in mind, the photography, and not about the 311 hacks you would have to get through to get your regular blog to work like…well, what you can download right here for free.
As advertised, I got this site up and running with minimal effort. Most of the work I did was on the style sheet and little time was spent tweaking the functionality. Of all of the improvements over Blogger, I am especially pleased by the navigation features in PixelPost. (more…)

My dabbling with DSLR photography has me wondering if I want to be pigeonholed by my site’s URL (i.e., do you only expect to see PDA photos here)? I have begun toying with the idea of a new domain name, even though that means that the new site design will have to change slightly. I would still post PDA photos, but there would be other categories for film vs. digital, simple vs. SLR, etc.
There is someone else with a PDA photoblog — Michael Daniel over at 640×480.net. He has a neat thing going with his Handspring Veo. Guys like him inspire me to continue with the PDA only theme for as long as I am able. This is an excerpt from his about page.
The highest resolution of the Eyemodule2 images — 640 x 480 pixels — is the lowest resolution of todays digital cameras. In the digital universe, the low resolution snaps made with the Eyemodule2 have a feel similar to those made with the plastic Holga and Diana toy cameras of the film world. The Eyemodule2s rock bottom pixel count — which makes for “barely the facts” images — is one thing I love about it.
The other outstanding aspect of the Eyemodule2 is how invisible I can be with it. Standing on any street corner, stylus in one hand, staring down at the organizer in the other, I can silently make snap after snap, yet to most people I simply project — “don’t mind me, just organizing here…”
If I do decide to expand the scope of this blog, then I have a new name in mind that I really, really like. Unfortunately, it is already taken. It is being used by a registrar to funnel traffic to their business site. If I cannot persuade them to sell and/or transfer it to me, then there are the .net and .org iterations still available.
If you have any name suggestions then please leave me a comment, or do likewise if you feel like leading me in the opposite direction.
I have wanted a digital SLR ever since my friend Matt upgraded to a Canon Digital Rebel. While I believe that having a good eye is more important than your equipment, an expensive camera in the hands of someone who knows how to use it equates to better pictures.
So when I was asked to take a group photo of the mission team at church today, I was downright giddy when they handed me Ron’s Nikon D70. I immediately took it outside and started photographing flowers while they tried to get all fifteen people gathered together (no small feat).
I decided to share the fruits of my labors on pdaphotoblog.com. I know, I know. It does not fit with the title of the blog. However, the photos are being categorized as “non-PDA.” Besides, I am sure that you are as tired of waiting for my new PDA to arrive as I am. I hope you enjoy the next twelve days (starting here).
Oh, and by the way, congratulations to Willa for getting a D70 (and kudos to Stephen for spending all of his summer bonus on his wife). I wish Pam wanted a DSLR instead of a Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer (though truth be told…I want ‘em too).

My wife thinks it is funny that I have spent all this time revamping my PDA photoblog site, while I do not have a camera PDA. I used to have one and blogged with it for about nine months. However, I broke it back in December of last year. Several months ago I signed up for an affiliate marketing program so that I could earn a free Treo 650. The company, Internet Opinion Group, is requiring me jump through several hoops. Hopefully, by next month the smart phone will finally be in my possession.

I recently moved pdaphotoblog.com from Blogger to PixelPost. I like how the new photoblog format lets the image stands on its own. Still, I kind of missed having a place to elaborate on a photo, an experience or some site related topic (e.g., PDA’s, software, etc.). I came across a plug-in for WordPress that allows you to show a thumbnail image from your PixelPost blog. I then found out that some PixelPost users were setting up WordPress blogs on the same MYSQL database. The rest, as they say, is history.
